Workshop

2024 Campaign Journalism Conference: How to Track Campaign Financing

April 27, 2023
12:50 PM (CT)

A hands-on workshop to learn how to follow campaign money and uncover the funding sources behind a candidate. These skills are increasingly important in light of recent legislative changes that make it easier to consolidate donations via political action committees or otherwise conceal campaign cash.

This workshop is part of an intensive two-day bootcamp by the nonpartisan University of Chicago Institute of Politics & the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard to equip journalists with practical tools to cover increasingly more complex local and national elections.

The bootcamp is free to journalists but space is limited. Apply by March 28th, 2023.

What You’ll Learn:

– How to Track Money in Politics
– Tools to Find Candidates’ Funding Sources
– Techniques for Uncovering Dark Money
